Our News2009-2010 Program Additions Announced New producers John Mundaden and Max Thompson announced additions to next year's program recently. Laker Broadcasting has chosen to discontinue the Navy Nation, and instead has chosen to provide a short midweek video report for fans featuring interviews and a game breakdown. 2009-2010 Leadership Announced Graduating Executive Producer Greg Talbott announced Laker Broadcasting's leadership succession plan this week. Current junior John Mundaden (younger brother of current VP Paul Mundaden), and sophomore Technical Director Max Thompson will step into Associate Producer roles, sharing equal responsibility of the organization. Mundaden will serve as Associate Producer of Programming, while Thompson will step in as Associate Producer of Technology and Development. The two plan to reveal additions to the program and a season plan within the next month. Stay tuned! Laker Broadcasting Continues Revolutionary Season with Expansive Baseball Coverage This year, Laker Broadcasting stepped up coverage of football and basketball more than ever before, offering up the most broadcasts by far in the program's history; and they're not done yet. Laker Broadcasting will air between 13-15 Laker baseball games this Spring! Click the schedule link for more. Founder Debuts Major Sports Talk Show Laker Broadcasting's founder, John Strong, has been working with sports radio 95.5 the Game in Portland since the station's inception last Spring. He has been producing the Bald Faced Truth, John Canzano's radio show, hosting "Ducks Game Day Drive" on Saturday mornings, and hosted "The Prep Report" this past fall; but now he's taking the reigns. "Strong at Night," his solo sports talk show, will air after the BFT from 6-7 pm Monday-Friday. Congrats John! LAKER Broadcasting to fundraise at LOHS auction LAKER Broadcasting has been booked as one of the LOHS organizations to raise money at this year's LOHS auction. It will be held Feb. 7 at the Embassy Suites. Topics will cover the "Laker Family," the future possibility of graphics/multiple cameras, and growth for the program next year. Talbott to fill in on 93.7 FM for Nike Interstate Shootout Greg Talbott, Laker Broadcasting's EP, play-by-play broadcaster, and host of The Navy Nation, will be filling in for Pete Belcastro on Tuesday, Dec. 30th on 93.7 FM for the championship game of the Nike Interstate Shootout, a major Oregon girls basketball tournament. 93.7 is a large FM station that covers most of southern Oregon, including Medford, Ashland, and Klamath Falls. The broadcast will be streamed online as well on www.tablerocksportsnetwork.com, with a 7:15 tip-off. Laker Broadcasting continues to grow in size Laker Broadcasting has continued to grow this year, and is proud to be bringing more students than ever for this year's basketball season. 13 individual students make up the group, and fill out two entire broadcast crews. Each has their own play-by-play broadcasters, color commentators, sideline reporters, studio hosts, studio analysts, and producers/cameramen. To see the list of students, visit the "about us" page Basketball Schedule Announced The 2008-2009 basketball season schedule has been released, and Laker Broadcasting is proud to be stepping up coverage more than ever before. Nine Laker boys games will be broadcast on the website, including four before the season with the Les Schwab Invitational, in addition to six girls games. Both teams will be fully covered throughout the playoffs. For more info, click on the "schedule" link. The Navy Nation tops 1,000 listeners After 13 weeks of LAKER Broadcasting's weekly talk show, the rating have come in. As of December 7, The Navy Nation has received just over 1,100 individual hits throughout the season. Congrats to Greg and the crew at TNN! LAKER Broadcasting purchases wireless internet card LAKER Broadcasting has just purchased a wireless internet card from AT&T, a gigantic help to our organization. Now, we will have the capability to do video at every location, including ones where we were previously unable to get an internet signal! First episode of The Navy Nation is a success The Navy Nation with Greg Talbott launched on Friday afternoon with its first episode. Despite a small technical difficulty early on, the show was a great success, generating over 100 hits in under 24 hours! LAKER Broadcasting garners article in Lake Oswego Review In the September 4th issue of the Lake Oswego Review, there will be a full-length feature article on LAKER Broadcasting and the program's changes for the year. LAKER Broadcasting to appear on FOX 12's Friday Night Lights It has been confirmed with FOX 12 Oregon that next Friday night (September 5th), LAKER Broadcasting will be featured as the High School Spotlight. The feature will center around the program's new features this year, especially The Navy Nation. FNL airs at 10:30 pm every Friday night during football season, and LAKER Broadcasting's feature will appear around 10:45-10:50. Make sure to tune in! Game Time Changed The Lakers' first football game of the season (vs. Juneau-Douglas) has been re-scheduled. The game will still be on Saturday the 6th, but kickoff will be at 3:30 pm, not 4:00 pm. The game will still be a live video broadcast on LAKER Broadcasting. Make sure to tune in! LAKER Broadcasting to hold first-ever Boot Camp On August 27th and 28th, LAKER Broadcasting will hold it's first ever Boot Camp. All student broadcasters will attend to learn about the organization, do test broadcasts, try out for positions, and become part of the team. New Website Underway As of August 18th, LAKER Broadcasting's new website is under development. We are adding much more content, using a high-tech template, and making it more user-friendly. It will be completed around the 28th of August.
